HISTORY OF ST. ANSELM’S SCHOOL

St. Anselm’s School, Didwana, is the realization of a missionary dream envisioned by Emeritus Bishop Oswald Lewis, under the inspiring motto: “Wisdom Through Knowledge.” The journey began when a plot of land was purchased near Daulatpura, in Didwana, then part of the Nagaur District in Rajasthan. This barren desert land would soon witness the seeds of education and transformation.

The first missionary to step into this land was Fr. Sujaya Paik, accompanied by four Bon Secours Sisters led by Sr. Mary FBS. Their commitment and sacrifice laid the foundational spirit of the school. On 1st April 2017, the school officially opened its doors in a modest 8-room building with 86 students, marking the humble beginning of St. Anselm's School (SAS). Starting a school in the harsh desert region of Marwar was a challenging task, but the mission took its first determined step.

In 2018, Fr. Siju Thomas took charge and led the school to new heights. His focus on quality education and English-based learning helped uplift the educational standards, especially for children from the local community.A significant milestone in the school’s journey was on 29th September 2019, when Emeritus Bishop Oswald Lewis blessed the foundation stone of the new school building. On 29th July 2021, one wing of the new building was blessed, once again by Bishop Oswald Lewis, marking the next phase of growth. Later, on 20th June 2021, a presbytery was constructed for the residential priest, ensuring pastoral and administrative presence on campus.

During the 2022–2023 academic year, Fr. Kishore Kumar D’Souza served as the principal. He carefully oversaw the completion of the new school building. On 23rd March 2023, the entire new building was solemnly blessed by the Bishop of Jaipur, and on the same day, the foundation stone for a new convent was also blessed, further expanding the school’s spiritual and educational infrastructure.

In 2023, the new academic year began under the leadership of Fr. Arasaretnam. However, a tragic moment struck the school on 16th October 2024, when Fr. Arasaretnam passed away suddenly due to cardiac arrest. His passing was a great loss to the school community. From November 2024 onwards, Fr. Moorthilal assumed the role of Principal. The 2024–2025 academic year became a landmark year in SAS history as the school presented its second batch of Class 10 students for the board exams. Remarkably, 15 students secured over 80%, and Kumari Shahin Bhanu topped with an impressive 92%, adding a golden feather to the cap of the school.

The academic year 2025–2026 began with a renewed mission and vision: "Joining Hands, Shaping the Future." Today, St. Anselm's School continues to provide holistic and value-based education to nurture the young minds of Didwana, empowering them to become enlightened citizens of tomorrow.
